Which Starlink to choose? Comparison of all generations from Mini to High Performance

Який Starlink обрати? Порівняння всіх генерацій від Mini до High Performance

Starlink equipment allows you to access satellite Internet anywhere - where there is no mobile coverage or a traditional provider. The line includes several models of antennas that differ in size, coverage areas, characteristics and performance levels. This article will help you understand which model best suits your needs - regardless of whether you plan to install a terminal at home, at a company or on the go.

Starlink Mini

  • Antenna dimensions: 298.5 × 259 mm
  • Weight: ~1.1 kg
  • Wi-Fi coverage area: up to 112 m²
  • Installation method: manual positioning via app
  • Maximum number connected devices: up to 128

Starlink Mini is the smallest and lightest antenna in the entire line. It is suitable for those looking for basic internet for everyday tasks: viewing content, working with documents, connecting while traveling, etc.

Mini is easy to transport and thanks to its low power it can be powered by various sources. Power from the 12/24V cigarette lighter is possible thanks to a solution developed by Adaptis. The 12/24V adapter includes all the necessary elements for quick connection and setup takes a few minutes.

Starlink Standard Actuated (Gen 2)

  • Antenna dimensions: 513 × 303 mm
  • Weight: ~4.2 kg
  • Wi-Fi coverage area: about 185 m²
  • Installation method: automatic positioning
  • Maximum number of connected devices: up to 128

This is the second generation of the standard Starlink antenna, which was officially discontinued in 2024, but is still in active use. A feature of this model is the built-in motors that independently orient the antenna towards the satellites.

Thanks to this auto-guidance, the user does not need to manually adjust the position of the device. This model provides reliable communication under various operating conditions. It is still widely used in stationary and mobile solutions.

Starlink Standard (Gen 3)

  • Antenna dimensions: 594 × 383 mm
  • Weight: ~3.2 kg
  • Wi-Fi coverage area: up to 297 m²
  • Installation method: manual positioning via app
  • Maximum number of connected devices: up to 235

Gen 3 is an updated model of the standard antenna, aimed at more intensive use. It has a larger signal reception area, higher speed, and a new router with Wi-Fi 6 support.

Unlike the previous generation, Gen 3 does not have built-in motors, so you need to orient the antenna yourself during installation. This is easily done using the Starlink app. Thanks to the modern router, Gen 3 is suitable for users who work with large amounts of data.

Starlink High Performance

  • Antenna dimensions: 575 × 511 mm
  • Weight: over 6 kg (depending on configuration)
  • Wi-Fi coverage area: up to 297 m²
  • Installation method: automatic positioning

This model is designed for users with increased performance requirements. High Performance is better able to withstand high temperatures, can connect to more satellites simultaneously, and works stably in poor sky visibility conditions.

Thanks to the built-in self-orientation mechanism, the antenna automatically "catches" satellites. This is convenient in conditions where a stable connection is required without constant user intervention. This model is often used at enterprises, technical bases or in field conditions.

Starlink Flat High Performance

  • Antenna dimensions: (similar to High Performance) 575 × 511 mm
  • Weight: over 6 kg
  • Wi-Fi coverage area: up to 297 m²
  • Installation method: fixed mounting on the vehicle

Flat High Performance is a specialized version for vehicle installation. It is the only model in the line that is officially designed for operation on the move. Thanks to a wide field of view and advanced GPS functions, it maintains stable communication even on the move or during rocking.

Compared to the standard version, the Flat High Performance has better performance in hot weather (three times faster speeds at >35°C) and a more efficient snow melting system. It is installed on special equipment, commercial vehicles, yachts and mobile stations.

What should you know before choosing a communication terminal?

All Starlink models provide connectivity to the same global satellite network, but have different advantages in size, design, endurance level, and connection format.

Starlink Mini — for mobility, travel and autonomous work.

Starlink Gen 2 — for flexible use in field conditions where auto-guidance is required.

Starlink Gen 3 — for offices, technical facilities, and locations with a large number of connections.

Starlink High Performance — for operation in extreme conditions, on large objects or missions.

Starlink Flat High Performance — for stable Internet on transport: airplanes, yachts, campers, industrial equipment.

How to expand the possibilities of using Starlink?

Although all Starlink models are basically designed for stationary use, they can be adapted for mobile operation with additional solutions implemented by the Adaptis team .

We work with all of the above models: we integrate them into transport systems, optimize power supply, and perform professional installation and configuration for specific tasks.
